Act as a trusted finance business partner for designated business lines across Study Group, collaborating closely with senior leaders, line managers, and the FP&A team to deliver insightful financial analysis, drive business performance, and support informed decision-making.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Act as the key access point for business line into Finance and play the role of trusted advisor, leveraging the wider Finance function to ensure standardization, efficiency and effectiveness of interactions between the business and Finance.
- Report to the business to keep stakeholders well informed of performance relative to budget and targets.
- Contribute to the business case financial evaluation
- Deputise for Senior FBP as required
- Be a regular contributor to Weekly Commercial Finance updates to CFO and Commercial Finance Director
- Drive regular ad hoc insight / analysis which can facilitate better actions / decisions
- Provide decision support on all aspects of financial decision making in their business line, assisting stakeholders to identify and implement changes will drive improved business and KPI outcomes.
- Track current pipelines and ensure accuracy of forecasts actioned by FP&A
- Ensure awareness of and incorporate benchmarking and best practice from across the portfolio.
- Ensure the delivery and quality of analysis, reports, benchmarking, KPI identification and measurement, and historical trends to the business in order to enable proactive decision making.
- Provide commercial support in the preparation of reporting and operational presentations
- Continuous improvement – identify and implement improvements to the planning process in striving towards best practice.
- Assist in managing the relationship with respect to responsible portfolios.
- Working closely with FP&A team to ensure clear lines of accountability working in collaborative approach – ensuring the “buddy” system is well understood and implemented
- Support Senior FBP in taking ownership of the monthly P&L through results analysis to highlight improvement areas and managing the vehicles which non finance stakeholders are engaged on their performance (monthly meetings etc.)
- Drive a Growth and cost efficiency mindset across wider business as two key principles to move the business forward
- Qualified accountant preferred
- An experienced Finance Business Partner who has worked with senior stakeholders in a complex, preferably matrix organisation.
- Track record of collating, analysing and sharing both financial and non-financial information to support business decision making.
- Experience of working with analytical tools such as Adaptive, PowerBI
- Previous experience of working in Finance model which has business facing roles supported by Finance Centres of Excellence/Shared Services teams.
