Salary: up to £ 35000 per annum
To be part of the Student Experience Team and be responsible for coordinating student wellbeing, enrichment and engagement within the centre. The post holder will be operationally managed by the Student Experience Leader and will be responsible for the operational management of the Student Wellbeing & Engagement Officers. You will play a vital role in achieving the delivery of the best possible student experience. The role acts as DDSL or DSL ensuring the compliance of safeguarding with regulations and has the authority conferred on them to carry out this specific part of the role.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Responsibility for the provision of student welfare, safeguarding, Prevent and Enrichment within the centre and the related administration and secure record-keeping
- Ensure effective case management of all student welfare concerns or information on LDHD, ensuring fair case loading between this role and the Student Wellbeing & Engagement Officers. including but not limited to: student welfare meetings, fitness to study meetings, reasonable adjustments
- Ensure the safeguarding of students in line with Study Group policy, guidance and standard operating procedures.
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead or Designated Safeguarding Lead, with agreement of Centre Director) (responsibilities are set out in the DSL Handbook and authority is conferred to enable escalation and ability to raise safeguarding issues in line with regulations and the safeguarding escalation policy) As DSL or DDSL, monitor the escalation phone on a rota basis. Monitor student whereabouts and coordinate the procedure as required.
- Create Agreed Support Plans (ASPs), including Safety Plans and Exit Plans, ensuring the necessary approval and escalation processes are followed.
- Collaborate and share appropriate information with the Senior Coordinator Progression & Transition which may impact individual student performance and support with appropriate interventions.
- Ensure records are kept on Studygroup systems and these are accurate, factual, timely and current,
- Attend network meetings (deputising for DSL as required)
- Use data within year and end of year to identify enhancements to welfare and learning support and drive forward these changes
- Ensure escalation of any concerns to the Student Experience Leader and Central Student Wellbeing team as required.
- Work collaboratively with teams within the ISC to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to welfare support and to advocate and embed inclusive practice within the classroom.
- Maintain the Wellbeing and Welfare section on the o. VLE
- Organise and deliver wellbeing elements of induction and other wellbeing, enrichment and engagement activities in liaison with Deputy Director SE.
- Produce related wellbeing materials to help develop skills and sense of community in liaison with the Senior Coordinator – Progression &Transition .
- Support Student Ambassadors and other activities designed to increase engagement in Student Life
- Build relationships with the University Partner to ensure a cooperative and collaborative relationship to promote effective engagement to the benefit of students.
- Line manage and motivate the Welfare and Engagment Officers to contribute to ensuring the best possible student outcomes and student experience.
- If acting as DSL, coordinate training of DDSLs and ensure regular meetings to keep them updated of any serious cases in case they need to deputise
- In liaison with the Central Student Wellbeing team, ensure supervision is provided to the Welfare and Enrichment Officers, including running case reviews to share experience.
- Provide effective performance management of direct reports, including setting personal objectives and KPIs; regularly reviewing performance of direct reports; and conducting formal performance reviews according to company policy and procedures.
- Facilitate, encourage and support staff to participate in regular personal development activity.
- Recruit new staff as required according to Study Group policies and procedures.
- Contribute to developing, communicating and enacting Study Group’s Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy, framework, policy and standard operating procedures through the Wellbeing Communities of Practice and DSL meetings.
- Support local awareness raising of safeguarding and safeguarding practices and procedures.
- Ensure the effective and efficient maintenance of all quality and enhancement related policies, procedures, and documents relating to key areas of responsibility.
- Contribute to the production of the Quarterly and Annual Safeguarding review and relevant parts of the Annual Monitoring Report.
- Contribute to governance committees and groups as required.
- Plan, oversee and monitor the implementation of actions from the Centre Action Plans relevant to student welfare and the Student Experience & Wellbeing Strategy.
- Analyse data and feedback from a wide variety of sources to monitor impact relevant to student welfare support.
- To assist the Student Experience team in organising and delivering student induction, transition and enrichment activities.
- To deal with general student queries – face to face, by email and phone.
- To foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Any other duties as required by the Student Experience Leader or Centre Director.
- Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience to demonstrate ability to work and think independently)
- Administration or management training or qualification
- Higher level safeguarding training
- Previous line management of staff is desireable
- Supporting students in an educational context
- Working to develop, build and maintain the Student Experience
- Working in a regulated environment
