The Academic Manager supports academic and curriculum development and its implementation, working closely with the Academic Associate Director, and the Partner Liaison and Operations Director for existing business partnerships.
This role facilitates the academic quality of partner programmes on an operational / BAU basis. These programs include Bellerbys, DLC, IY1, and new programmes.  Collaborating with the Academic Associate Director and partnerships to educate and monitor that the relevant quality assurance checks are met (as specified by UK and local legislation).  It is in regular contact with existing partners and their teams to provide coaching, guidance and advice on alignment of program offerings, and advises on academic policies, procedures, and standards in line with partner and university requirements. Supports the Director and Academic Associate Director to ensure that academic processes run smoothly with the universities, moderators, examiners, and the partner. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Academic Programme Management
  • Supports the academic and curriculum development improvements and its implementation, with oversight from the Academic Associate Director.
  • Maintains the academic quality of the programme advising and guiding partners (Bellerbys, DLC, IY1 etc) and supports all the required quality assurance checks (as specified by UK and local legislation).
  • Contributes to the content of assessments for programmes, such as Bellerbys, and contributes to updating existing programmes whilst collaborating with the Academic Associate Director and the Curriculum Team.
  • Supports the BAU activities of an existing partner by liaising with universities, moderators, examiners, and the partner to support the academic processes.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to enhance the academic capabilities and the processes for academic integrity with partners.
  • Liaises with new and existing universities to check that entry requirements and progression requirements are fit for purpose, and with overview from the Academic Associate Director.
Quality Assurance
  • Collaborates with the Compliance, Quality and Progression Manager for the implementation and management of a quality assurance framework for existing partners.
  • Coaches on implementation of academic policies, procedures, and standards in line with university requirements.
  • Educates on updates of quality assurance of any curriculum changes.
  • Enables audits by internal departments and external authorities.
Partnerships
  • Delivers regular partner training or refresher training for new employees with partners.
Relationship Management and Communication:
  • Supports and maintains effective external relationships that are part of the partnership programme, and engages with existing partners regularly.
  • Establishes and maintains effective internal working relationships with Study Group, credibility and inspire confidence in their team and colleagues. 
  • Collaborates and maintains respectful relationships with internal stakeholders and nurtures relationships.
ABOUT YOU
  • Essential: Relevant undergraduate degree in education, or similar.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in education or similar.
  • Sound knowledge of academic requirements in the UK or articulation partner countries such as China, relationships with the progression universities.
  • Demonstrated experience of implementing academic programmes and curriculum in the education sector, preferably in the international or pathway educational sector.
  • Experience of maintaining existing partnership relationships with academics and support teams within organisations.
  • Experienced in education technology and digital learning that supports international pathways.
  • Good knowledge of international trends on education.
  • Experience of working with students and partner organisations and has knowledge of international cultural differences. 
  • Business level language skills in English and Chinese essential, and other languages may be considered.  
  • Academic programme and curriculum implementation skills for University entry programmes, or similar.
  • Professional level communication skills, speaking, presenting and writing fluently, with the ability to flex to different audiences.
  • Skilled and experienced in presenting to academics with partners.
  • Competent in diffusing differences and sourcing a solution to programme delivery.
  • Good understanding of education quality assurance and compliance frameworks and their application.
  • Broad knowledge of the international context of higher education and the business, government and industry context in which students/graduates will study, eg. China, UK, SE Asia, ANZ, USA.
